Thermal Angel Blood and IV Fluid Infusion Warmer In The News

Shelter From Shock
Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS), Todd LeDuc and AJ Heightman, October 2001

Contemporary trauma literature states you should initiate IV fluids only after you've begun transport of severely traumatized patients to limit the impact of prehospital time delays. When you establish vascular access, use of such devices as the Thermal Angel allows you to actively warm IV fluids for core rewarming.

I believe it is essential to the patient’s overall well-being that IV fluids be as close to body temperature as possible.

I never used the Thermal Angel in my civilian practice in the ICU setting. It wasn't until being deployed with the Army to my current duty station in Afghanistan that I was introduced to it. And I have to say I really like what it does to compliment the warming measures we use for our trauma patients.
